1. Introduction

Theme installation process is described in General Installation section.
Important note:
Documentation is related to this particular theme and explains how to setup and use most of its specific options and features. It does not explain how to use WordPress.

2. Theme Options Overview

Theme options can be accessed on your WordPress dashboard, in “Appearance > Customize” section.

Site Identity lets you set up site title, subtitle and icon.
Menus lets you set up site menus.
Widgets lets you set up site widgets.
Header Image lets you upload site header image.
Layout Settings lets you turn on/off various sections of theme, set sidebar position and select post layout.
Theme Colors lets you adjust colors of theme.
Theme Fonts lets you adjust headings and body fonts of theme.
Image Slider lets you control/adjust top image slider.
Featured Boxes lets you control/adjust featured boxes under image slider.
Single Entry lets you adjust single post layout, post excerpts and author box widget.
Social Icons lets you set up social media icons.
Custom CSS lets you add your CSS code to theme.

3. Importing demo content

After demo content is imported, to finish installation, you need to manually:
– create/assign menus in Appearance > Menus section,
– update social media profiles in Theme Options > Social Icons section,
connect Instagram widget to your Instagram account
connect your MailChimp widget to MailChimp.com account,

Please remember that demo images are not included in purchased theme demo content due to their license restrictions. Demo images are replaced with blank placeholders.
Please go to Appearance > Import Demo Data and click Import Demo Data button. It may take up to few minutes, depending on your hosting speed. Please be patient and don’t close the page until process is completed.

4. Header Image

Retina header image has to be exactly twice the size of your original header. If your original header is 250×100 pixels big, Retina header must be 500×200px. Name of Retina header must end with @2x, so your logo.jpg must be logo@2x.jpg.

Add New Image – lets you add standard header image.
Header Width – lets you set up Retina header width (optional).
Header Height – lets you set up Retina header height (optional).

5. Image Slider Overview

Slider image can be activated in Layout Settings > Image Slider section.
Slider image settings can be found in Image Slider section.

Settings > Display most recent posts? Lets you choose whether to display recent posts or your own images.
Settings > How many recent posts? Lets you set the amount of recent posts in slider.
Settings > Display only from following category Lets you limit slides to certain category.
Media section – Lets you set up slides manually.

Featured boxes can be activated in Layout Settings > Featured Boxes section.

7. How to change blog area layout?

Please head over to Layout Settings > Post Area section. You will find options for both:
Posts (covers your blog area),
Archives (covers every other post feed, like Archives, Categories, Search).

– To select global option for sidebar please head over to Layout Settings > Sidebars section.
– To set sidebar position for specific post/page, please go to page/post editor and adjust Sidebar Settings on the right side of editor.

9. How to hide elements of posts?

10. How to adjust post excerpts?

Please head over to Single Entry > Post Excerpts section. You will find following settings:
Automatic post excerpts – lets you turn on/off automatic excerpts option.
Excerpt length – 1 – this setting is for all posts outside grid/list and standard posts.
Excerpt length – 2 – this setting is for all posts inside grid/list.

11. How to add/edit social icons?

Please head over to Social Icons > Profiles section and enter datails of chosen social media profiles. Please make sure to use full address, like: https://facebook.com/lucalogos

Toolbar icons – can be activated in Layout Settings > Top Toolbar,
Author Sidebar Widget icons – can be activated in “LucaLogos – About Me Widget” widget, to be found in Appearance > Widgets area on your WordPress dashboard,
Auhor Box icons – will be automatically displayed when you fill your social media profiles,
Footer icons – can be activated in Layout Settings > Footer Social Icons.

12. How to edit Author Box?

Author box is displayed at end of your posts.
Social icons will automatically be displayed when you add some in Social Icons > Profiles section in theme customizer.

To activate Author Box please go to Single Entry > Post Appearance section in theme customizer.
Please head over to Users > Your Profile and fill the “About Yourself” area.

13. How to add/edit “About Me” widget?

“About Me” widget can be added to your sidebar in Appearance > Widgets section of your WordPress dashboard.

Please head over to Appearance > Widgets area on your WordPress dashboard and add LucaLogos "About Me" Widget to your sidebar. Once added, fill chosen fields.

14. How to add Facebook widget?

“Facebook” widget can be added to your sidebar in Appearance > Widgets section of your WordPress dashboard.

Please head over to Appearance > Widgets area on your WordPress dashboard and add LucaLogos "FB Page Box" Widget to your sidebar. Configure the widget according to your needs.

16. How to configure newsletter form?

If you are using MailChimp for WP plugin on your blog already and connected it previously, you can skip this step.
Please head over to MailChimp for WP > MailChimp area on your WordPress dashboard and click Get your API key here. You will be redirected to MailChimp site, where you need to register/log in.

If you have been redirected to MailChimp homepage instead of API keys page, please click on your profile name at the top right corner of page, then on Profile menu option. On your profile go to Extras > API keys tab.
Click Create A Key button, then copy entire “API key” value. Go back to your WordPress dashboard and use the key in API key field. Click Save Changes button.

17. How to configure Instagram widget?

Please head over to Instagram Feed area on your WordPress dashboard and click the big blue button. On a new window you may be asked to allow connection between widget and your Instagram account. Please accept it and you will be redirected back to previous page.

Under the big blue button, inside a white box you will find Access Token and User ID values. Please copy each of them and use in empty fields below the white box, then save changes.

If you want to have similar widget style to the one from “Claire” demo theme, please use following settings in Customize tab of Instagram section:
Number of Photos – 6,
Number of Columns – 6,
Padding around Images – 0,
Show the Header – unchecked,
Show the ‘Load More’ button – unchecked.

18. How to add Audio Post?

Remember that Audio preview on homepage posts is visible for “Classic” layout and first posts of “1 full + grid” and “1 full + list” layouts only.
Please go to Posts > Add New section on your blog dashboard. While creating a new post, scroll down until you reach area below text editor. Paste full address of your hosted audio file to Audio URL field.

Before post is published, make sure to add “Featured” image and select “Audio” format on the right side of post editor.

19. How to add Video Post?

Remember that Video preview on homepage posts is visible for “Classic” layout and first posts of “1 full + grid” and “1 full + list” layouts only.
Please go to Posts > Add New section on your blog dashboard. While creating a new post, scroll down until you reach area below text editor. Paste full address of your hosted audio file to Video URL field.

Before post is published, make sure to add “Featured” image and select “Video” format on the right side of post editor.

20. How to add Gallery Post?

Remember that Gallery preview on homepage posts is visible for “Classic” layout and first posts of “1 full + grid” and “1 full + list” layouts only.
Please go to Posts > Add New section on your blog dashboard. On the right side of editor please make sure to select “Gallery” post type.
Click Add Media button, then Create Gallery.

21. How to use child theme?

Warning: If you decide to install child theme, you will have to reconfigure your customizer settings. To speed up the process you can export your parent theme settings using this plugin: Customizer Export/Import
Please go to Themes > Add New section on your blog dashboard and add “TheWayILiveChild.zip” file. Once added, please activate it. Don’t remove parent “Olivia” theme!

22. Common Problems

No image thumbnails or Attachment Missing errors – please make sure to add “Featured image” to every post you create. It can be done on the right side of every post editor.
